Andre Courrèges started his career at the fashion house Jeanne Lafaurie and worked for over 10 years at Balenciaga. During these 10 years, he got to know Coqueline Courrèges and mastered the craft of making clothes. He found his passion in design, architecture, and textiles which led to the founding of his own Parisian fashion house. In 1961, together with his partner Coqueline Courrèges, he founded "Maison de Courrèges". The eponymous brand was mainly known for extremely simple, geometric, modern designs, including the "little white dress", trousers for women, and Andre and his brand Courrèges are also seen as the inventors of the mini skirt. Today, Courrèges has been around for more than 60 years, unfortunately, André has passed away and it is the Belgian designer Nicolas Di Felice who leads Courrèges into the future as Artistic Director.
