Heron Preston
Heron Preston challenges the fashion world with its unique take on workwear-inspired items with a New York vibe. In addition to classic streetwear items - think graphic T-shirts and hoodies with logo - you will find practical jackets and innovative tailoring. Heron Preston is an artist, creative director, content creator, clothing designer and DJ who has become a youth culture phenomenon in the Instagram generation, teamed up with Kanye West and Virgil Abloh, and debuted with his eponymous label at Paris Fashion Week in 2017. Born in San Francisco, Preston moved to New York in 2004 to earn a BBA from the Parsons School of Design. After starting out documenting characters from downtown New York on a blog, he reached out to fellow designer Virgil Abloh, who was contributing to another blog at the time. Preston then started working at Nike as a global digital producer. But in 2012, Abloh, along with Kanye West, his crew members Matthew Williams and Justin Saunders, came into contact. They launched streetwear label Been Trill, during which time Preston began teaming up with Kanye West as an art director, designing everything from tour merchandise to invitations to Yeezy fashion shows. During a trip to the Mediterranean, however, Preston saw firsthand the effects of pollution and subsequently became an advocate for sustainability and better production conditions. Preston partnered with the NYC Department of Sanitation on a zero-waste collection of clothing and accessories, which sold out immediately after its launch in 2016. When Abloh started Off-White and Williams started Alyx, they introduced Preston to the New Guards Group, the Milan-based manufacturing and distribution company that works with Off-White. Preston signed a deal for his eponymous label and debuted at Paris Fashion Week in 2017. The designer has also collaborated with brands such as Gap and Nike.
